Source-supplied bottle description

A historic estate in Saint-Émilion, Château Balestard La Tonnelle is situated on a remarkable limestone plateau terroir, close to the village. Classified as a Grand Cru Classé since 1955, the estate benefits from expertise passed down through several generations. The 2018 vintage, which was particularly successful in Bordeaux, produces a rich, ripe and deeply fruity wine here, without losing the freshness imparted by the limestone. The nose opens with blackberry, blackcurrant and small black berries, accompanied by notes of liquorice, sweet spices and toasted oak. On the palate, the texture is dense and silky, supported by well-defined tannins and lovely structure, with a lingering finish. A wine that is drinkable now, but whose structure and balance still allow for fine development in the bottle.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
