Château George 7 is an elegant and expressive Fronsac red crafted from 35-year-old Merlot vines rooted in the rolling limestone and clay soils of Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Hand-harvested and meticulously sorted both manually and by optical selection the grapes undergo fermentation in 500-litre French oak barrels, 30% of which are new, allowing for a gentle extraction and refined tannin structure. The wine is then matured for 18 months in 225-litre French oak barrels, using a mix of new and one-year-old oak to build complexity while preserving purity of fruit. The result is a polished, mineral-driven wine with depth, freshness and remarkable precision.
Meet the Producer
Château George 7 is a boutique Fronsac estate dedicated to crafting modern, terroir-focused Bordeaux. With an emphasis on sustainable vineyard management, precision winemaking and minimal intervention, the château has quickly become one of the most exciting small producers in the region.
Production
Grapes are hand-picked at optimal ripeness and carefully sorted to ensure only pristine fruit enters the cellar. Fermentation in large French oak barrels develops aromatic complexity and textural finesse, followed by 18 months of ageing in a carefully judged combination of new and seasoned oak to integrate flavours and achieve an elegant, balanced finish.
Tasting Notes
The wine opens with an aromatic nose of dark bramble fruit, cherry and delicate floral tones, lifted by a fresh mineral edge. On the palate, fine tannins and vibrant acidity frame pure, ripe blackberry and raspberry flavours, complemented by subtle notes of pepper spice and cedar. The finish is long, refined and beautifully poised. Food Match Ideal with roast lamb, grilled rib-eye steak, mushroom dishes or hard, mature cheeses. Grape Merlot
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
