Historical Texas label approval
2 official label approvals have the same normalised product name as this BottlePicker record. Chateau Musar Hochar Pere et Fils is a characterful Lebanese red blending Cinsault , Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon from a single vineyard in the Western Bekaa Valley. Grown at 1,000 metres above sea level on deep gravelly soils over limestone, it is a wine of real Mediterranean personality, depth, and elegance from one of the wine world's most storied estates.
Why You'll Love It
Hochar Pere et Fils is the approachable sibling to the legendary Chateau Musar Grand Vin, sharing the same philosophy of minimal intervention, single-vineyard sourcing, and a deep respect for the Bekaa Valley's extraordinary terroir. Old vines averaging 30 years of age and low yields of just 20-30 hectolitres per hectare produce a wine of genuine concentration and complexity. This is Lebanon at its finest, and one of the most distinctive bottles you will find at this price.
Vineyard & Production
The grapes are sourced from a single vineyard near the village of Aana in the Western Bekaa Valley, sitting at 1,000 metres altitude on deep, gravelly soils over a limestone base. Low yields and old vines concentrate flavour naturally. The grapes are fermented at 27-29°C with 15-20 days maceration in cement vats, followed by six months ageing in French Nevers oak barrels before blending and bottling.
Tasting Notes
Deep burgundy in colour with transparent layers revealing the Grenache component. The nose offers aromas of ripe red cherry, plums, dates, mulberries, and tea leaves. On the palate, it is Mediterranean in style with sweet tannins and a subtle spiciness. The wine develops even greater refinement a day after opening, rewarding patience and a good decant.
Perfect Pairings
Pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, grilled meats, slow-cooked Mediterranean dishes, and aged cheeses. Also excellent alongside spiced Middle Eastern cuisine, slow-roasted aubergine, or a classic Lebanese mezze spread.
The Blend
Cinsault 50%, Grenache 40%, Cabernet Sauvignon 10% from the Western Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
