Château Sergant produces a refined and elegant Lalande de Pomerol, crafted exclusively from 100% Merlot grapes. The vineyard is located on the eastern side of the appellation, on soils composed of gravel, sand, and clay, with characteristic blue clay reminiscent of the noble Pomerol plateau. The estate’s wines are fresh, complex, and well-balanced, with expressive aromas of black fruits and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is generous, harmonious, and reveals notes of blackberry jam and caramel, culminating in a long, persistent finish.
Meet the Producer
The Helfrich family has owned Château Sergant since 2012. The estate benefits from the expertise of oenologist Vincent Cachau, assisted by Hubert de Boüard, and follows precision viticulture principles to ensure optimal ripeness, balance, and terroir expression. The team practices reasoned agriculture, including targeted leaf-thinning, selective grass growing, precise pruning, and monitoring of vine stress to adapt to climate challenges.
Vineyards
The vineyard underwent replanting and density adjustments from 2016 to 2021, increasing vines from 5,500 to 6,666 per hectare to enhance root penetration and mineral uptake. Grapes are mechanically harvested with a first sorting in the machine, followed by meticulous selection at the winery. The vineyard work and viticultural practices focus on reducing bunches per vine, promoting competition, and managing vigor to produce concentrated, high-quality fruit.
Production
Vinification occurs in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats at 25–26°C, with daily tastings to guide pumping over and rack and return decisions. After alcoholic and malolactic fermentations, the wine is aged for approximately 12 months in oak barrels, with a portion of new barrels used to enhance structure and complexity.

Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
