Château Yon-Figeac produces refined, harmonious, and racy wines that express the classicism of Saint-Émilion while adding a modern touch of remarkable fruitiness, subtle spice, and refreshing elegance. These qualities, consistent across vintages, reflect the estate’s terroir and meticulous vineyard and cellar practices.

Meet the Producer

Located on the Right Bank of the Dordogne River, 50 kilometres from Bordeaux, Château Yon-Figeac was established in the early 19th century and is now recognised as one of the leading properties in Saint-Émilion in terms of both size and wine quality. Tastings are available by appointment at the castle.

Vineyards

The estate spans 24 hectares with clay and sandy soils over iron slag. Vine density is 6,200 plants per hectare, with an average vine age of 32 years. The vineyards are cultivated using sustainable agriculture practices and traditional ploughing. The grape composition is 80% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, and 7% Petit Verdot.

Production

Harvest is manual, with mechanical sorting and parcel selection. Vinification takes place in heat-regulated tronconic stainless steel vats with 25–30 days of vatting, including reasoned daily extraction and hot post-fermentation maceration. Aging occurs for 12 months in 40% new French oak barrels and 60% in barrels of one or two previous wines. The estate produces a second wine, Les Roches de Yon, also classified as Saint-Émilion Grand Cru.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
