The Cline Cellars Late Harvest Mourvèdre is a luxurious, small-format dessert wine from Contra Costa County AVA. Sweet and opulent, it delivers layers of blackberry, prune, coffee, and dark chocolate, balanced by lively acidity and fine-grained tannins for a long, indulgent finish.

Meet the Producer

Cline Cellars, a family-owned vineyard in Sonoma’s Carneros Valley, was established in 1982 by Fred Cline. The winery is renowned for its heritage vineyards and artisanal approach, producing wines that express both the terroir and the character of California’s historic varietals.

Production

Sourced from the Big Break Vineyard, planted in deep sand-soil and dry-farmed. The vineyard benefits from Contra Costa County’s drying winds, producing grapes with concentrated sugars. About 25% of the grapes were naturally raisined before harvest. Fermentation began naturally after three days in stainless steel tanks and continued for three weeks until sugars and alcohol balanced. The wine was aged in 30% new French oak barrels, enhancing structure while preserving the purity of the fruit.

Tasting Notes

Luxuriously sweet and complex, with aromas and flavours of coffee, After-Eight chocolates, blackberries, and prunes. Balanced acidity and refined tannins give the wine structure and elegance, making it rich yet perfectly poised. Food Match Pairs beautifully with rich chocolate desserts, chocolate mousse, brie with mango chutney, or salted caramel chocolates. A surprising yet memorable wine that delights guests. Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
