Clos de Gat Syrah is an elegant and expressive red wine from the foothills of the Judean Mountains, crafted to showcase the historic vineyards and unique terroir of the region while maintaining freshness and balance. Sourced from estate-grown vineyards planted on thin topsoil over limestone bedrock, it combines traditional winemaking with natural fermentation to produce a layered, complex wine with depth and finesse.
Vineyards
The grapes come from forty-seven acres (19 hectares) of vineyards overlooking the biblical Ayalon Valley. Hand-picked and rigorously sorted, they benefit from a unique micro-climate that promotes full ripening and concentration, while relying on the vineyard’s natural yeasts for fermentation enhances complexity and expression of the estate’s terroir.
Winemaking
After crushing, the grapes are transferred to open fermentation tanks. The wine is aged for sixteen months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new, with racking every four to six months. The final blend is bottled unfiltered, preserving the wine’s richness, depth, and natural character.
Tasting Notes
Clos de Gat displays a deep, dense purple colour. The nose is intense and complex, with discreet oak influence, warm peppery notes, and aromas of red fruit. On the palate, it is full-bodied, well-balanced, and spicily fresh, with vibrant acidity and integrated tannins. The finish is long, lively, and elegant, highlighting the wine’s structure and finesse.
Food Pairing
Pairs beautifully with grilled meats, roasted game, or rich Mediterranean dishes. Grape Syrah
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
