Domaine du Pré Semelé Sancerre Rouge is an expressive and full-bodied Pinot Noir from the rolling limestone hills of the Loire Valley, combining purity of fruit with subtle oak complexity and a refined Burgundian elegance.

Meet the Producer

Brothers Julien and Clément Raimbault have transformed Domaine du Pré Semelé into one of Sancerre’s most dynamic estates. Having inherited the property from their father, Rémy, they now farm 20 hectares across 60 organically managed parcels near Maimbray. Their approach blends meticulous vineyard care with thoughtful, low-intervention winemaking to reveal the character and integrity of each site.

Production

Sourced from just 2 hectares of Pinot Noir vines aged between 10 and 40 years, grown on classic clay and limestone soils. The grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, and undergo a 5–7 day pre-fermentation maceration at 8°C, followed by a natural yeast fermentation with minimal intervention. Ageing takes place in a balanced combination of large foudres, 500L barrels, and 15% new oak barriques for texture and complexity. The wine undergoes natural malolactic fermentation and is bottled without fining or filtration to preserve purity.

Tasting Notes

Fragrant aromas of ripe cherry, redcurrant, and raspberry are layered with hints of warm spice and subtle oak. The palate is smooth and generous, with vibrant fruit, fine tannins, and a long, elegant finish. This is a beautifully poised Loire Pinot Noir with depth, freshness, and finesse. Food Match Perfect with grilled chicken, roasted duck breast, mushroom linguine, or a platter of charcuterie. Grape Pinot Noir 100%

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
