Official geographic-register context

What the official register confirms about Puglia

BottlePicker found an exact region-name match in an official wine or spirits register. This establishes useful regional context; it does not by itself prove that this particular bottle is entitled to the designation. Check the producer label and specification for that claim.

Doppio Passo Primitivo is a rich and fruit-driven red from Italy’s southern region of Puglia, the heartland of the Primitivo grape. The warm Mediterranean climate and limestone-rich soils contribute to the wine’s generous character and ripe fruit profile. Grapes are harvested in two stages first at full ripeness, then later for greater concentration creating a soft, round, and full-bodied wine bursting with flavours of plum, blackberry, cherry, and chocolate. Unoaked and medium-bodied, it combines lush fruit with gentle tannins and balanced acidity for a smooth, satisfying finish.

Meet the Producer

Casa Vinicola Botter was founded in 1928 in the Veneto region and remains a family-run winery now managed by the third generation. From its origins supplying wine in casks and demi-johns, Botter has grown into one of Italy’s most respected producers, with vineyards and partnerships across the country’s key wine regions. The company is committed to certified sustainable practices that extend throughout the entire production chain, ensuring environmental responsibility and quality.

Production

The Doppio Passo technique involves a two-stage harvest: part of the grapes are picked at peak ripeness, while the remainder are left to mature further on the vine. This process enhances flavour concentration and texture. The wine is vinified unoaked to retain the natural fruit purity and varietal character of Primitivo.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby in colour, the nose reveals ripe plum, blackberry, and cherry aromas with hints of chocolate. The palate is smooth and medium-bodied, offering rich fruit concentration, soft tannins, and a rounded, velvety finish. Food match Pairs perfectly with spicy pasta dishes, roast pork or beef, game, and full-flavoured hard cheeses. Grape Primitivo 100%

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
