Cellar for up to 11 years. Decant 1 hour before serving. Edi Simcic founded his namesake winery in Slovenia’s Gorizia Hills in 1990 with just 9 acres of land. Over the years the family has slowly added additional vineyards to expand the estate to 30 acres and Edi has been joined in the business by his son, Aleks, who is a talented young winemaker. Set right by the Italian border, this region is one of the country’s most prized winemaking areas thanks to the Mediterranean climate and sheltered location which protects from the powerful Bora winds. Edi and Aleks Simcic pursue a bold yet traditional approach to winemaking which includes extended ageing in oak and fermentation in oak for both their red and white wines. Their Duet Lex is a punchy Bordeaux-style blend composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The young wine is aged in new oak barrels for up to 42 months to create an intense and multi-layered style with rich fruit flavours seasoned with baking spice and toasty notes from the maturation process. Cassis, smoky tobacco and cigar box spice define the nose while the first sip reveals a generous full body, soft tannins and a defined structure that will respond well to extended ageing in the cellar. The complex layers of dark fruit, spice and earthy hints will continue to develop over time and are best appreciated by opening and decanting the bottle one hour before you plan to serve the wine.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
