Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. The Elena Fucci winery is located in the small town of Barile in the province of Potenza, Basilicata. Here, on the slopes of Mount Vulture, Elena has repurposed the family vineyards, which her grandfather purchased in the 1960s and used until recently solely for grape sales, to produce iconic wines that fully represent the great potential of their terroir. The Aglianico grapes come from the single Titolo vineyard, located approximately 600 meters above sea level in the province of Potenza, in one of the most suitable areas of Vulture. Here, the vines, aged between 45 and 65 years, are rooted in volcanic soil composed of pozzolana, lava, lapilli, and ash, interspersed with layers of clay. After manual harvesting, fermentation takes place in steel vats, and the finished wine then ages for two years in French oak barrels and another year in the bottle. In the glass, the wine displays an intense ruby color with garnet highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and complex, with distinct fruity aromas of blackcurrant and cherry, followed by spices, tobacco and Mediterranean herbs, over a mineral undertone. On the palate, it reveals a strong personality, ample structure, and excellent concentration. It is dry, warm, and expressive, with firm tannins and a long, ethereal finish. It is a wine that can age beautifully for several years, but can also be enjoyed now with red meat stews and game.
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
