Source-supplied bottle description

Retained as supporting identification copy; the structured facts and evidence links above are kept separate.

False Bay Old School Syrah is a refined, savoury red from coastal Stellenbosch vineyards, crafted with minimal intervention to highlight balance and authenticity. Fermented with wild yeast, including a portion of whole bunches, and matured in large wooden foudres, this Syrah shows spice, freshness, and elegant structure — a style that is far more Syrah than Shiraz, with a nod to tradition and restraint.

Meet the Producer

False Bay Vineyards is an independent company founded by Paul Boutinot of Waterkloof. With a commitment to ‘real’ winemaking, they use sustainable farming and natural techniques to create wines that faithfully reflect their South African terroir.

Production

Grapes are sourced from two low-yielding, coastal vineyards in Stellenbosch, chosen for their cooler temperatures and naturally balanced, concentrated berries. Hand-harvested and fermented spontaneously with wild yeast, the wine includes a small proportion of whole bunches to enhance aromatic lift and texture. Maturation takes place in large wooden foudres, allowing the Syrah to develop complexity without overpowering oak. Vegan friendly and sustainably farmed.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
