Franciacorta Satèn is Italy’s answer to Champagne blanc de blancs, offering a softer, silkier style of sparkling wine with riper fruit and a gentle, creamy mousse. Satèn, meaning ‘satin’ in Italian, defines this elegant expression – always 100% Chardonnay and bottled with slightly lower pressure than other Franciacorta wines, giving a refined texture and a luxurious mouthfeel. Ferghettina’s Satèn is a benchmark example, balancing freshness, depth, and finesse.

Meet the Producer

Italian sparkling wine is not all about Prosecco. The Gatti family of Ferghettina has been showing the world the potential of Franciacorta for decades. With 120 hectares of vineyards across six communes, they are among the region’s leading quality producers, known for their meticulous vineyard management and precise, elegant winemaking.

Production

Grapes are sourced from older vineyards in two village areas, with alcoholic fermentation carried out in stainless steel tanks at 16–18°C using selected yeasts. Around 10% of the base wine is fermented and matured in used barriques for five months, adding texture and complexity. After tirage in the spring following harvest, the wine spends 36 months ageing on lees before disgorgement. Satèn is always bottled as Brut, with 7g/l dosage, and has a lower bottle pressure (under 4.5 atmospheres) than other Franciacorta wines, giving its hallmark softness.

Tasting Notes

Delicate aromas of fresh citrus combine with subtle toasty notes. The palate shows elegance and depth with creamy brioche, flinty mineral nuances, and hints of almond and honey. Fine, persistent mousse leads to a long, graceful finish. Food Match A superb aperitif, perfect with seafood canapés, shellfish, or swordfish carpaccio. Grape Varieties Chardonnay 100%

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
