Fonseca Siroco is a distinctive dry white Port, first released in the 1950s and named after the warm Sirocco wind that blows from North Africa across the Mediterranean. Made from a blend of classic Douro white grape varieties grown in the cooler, higher-altitude vineyards of the Douro Valley, Siroco offers a crisp, refreshing expression of white Port with depth and character. Produced predominantly from Malvasia Fina, with smaller proportions of Gouveio, Viosinho, Rabigato and Arinto, the wine is crafted using traditional foot-treading and is allowed to ferment for longer than most Ports before fortification. This extended fermentation results in a notably dry finish. Ageing in small oak vats adds texture, gentle nuttiness and smooth integration of flavours.

Meet the Producer

Fonseca, founded in 1815, is one of the Douro’s most respected Port houses, renowned for its commitment to quality, tradition and expressive vineyard sites. Today, under the direction of winemaker David Guimaraens, Fonseca continues to craft Ports that combine richness, balance and elegance.

Production

Grapes are sourced from cooler, higher-lying vineyards to preserve natural acidity. After traditional foot-treading, fermentation is extended to reduce residual sugar before fortification. The wine is then aged in small oak vats, enhancing texture while maintaining freshness and purity of fruit.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw in colour, with aromas of ripe orchard fruit, subtle citrus and gentle nutty notes from oak ageing. The palate is full and fruity yet beautifully balanced, with delicate acidity, refined wood influence and a long, lingering, refreshingly crisp finish. Food match Ideal as an aperitif. Serve chilled on its own, or over ice topped with tonic and a sprig of fresh mint. Pairs well with salted almonds, olives and light savoury snacks. Grape Malvasia Fina (predominant), Gouveio, Viosinho, Rabigato, Arinto

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
