From a particularly well-situated plot, this Givry 1er Cru Clos Jus perfectly illustrates François Lumpp's style: a subtle interpretation of the terroir, without artifice, where every detail seems to fall into place. A true walled vineyard mentioned as far back as the 13th century, Clos Jus is one of those climats that fell into obscurity for a long time before being replanted at the end of the 20th century, and which has now regained all its nobility. Situated on clay-limestone soils rich in iron oxides and very stony, benefiting from a warm and early microclimate, it produces wines that are denser and deeper than the appellation average. The wine thus stands out for its tighter structure than the estate's other cuvées, offering a texture that is both dense and controlled, unfolding slowly with aeration. The silky, enveloping texture is underpinned by perfectly integrated tannins, whilst slightly smoky and spicy nuances highlight precise, ripe fruit without excess. This internal tension, combined with a lovely freshness, gives the wine remarkable depth and genuine ageing potential. Striking a balance between immediate charm and serious ageing potential, this Clos Jus stands out as a benchmark for Givry, offering a style that is at once rich, structured and highly eleganta combination rarely achieved at this price point in Burgundy.
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
