One of Puglia’s most celebrated reds, Graticciaia is produced only in exceptional vintages and in limited quantities. Made from meticulously selected Negroamaro grapes that are naturally dried on straw mats under the southern Italian sun, this wine is rich, powerful, and opulent, while still retaining remarkable balance and elegance. A benchmark expression of both the grape and the Salento terroir.

Meet the Producer

Founded in 1935, Agricole Vallone is one of the Salento peninsula’s original quality wine producers. The estate is family-owned and deeply rooted in the local landscape, with vineyards surrounded by centuries-old olive groves and a focus on producing wines that showcase Puglia’s heritage and character.

Production

Graticciaia is crafted exclusively from Negroamaro grown on Vallone’s Flamino Estate in Puglia, a 310-hectare property with 110 hectares dedicated to DOC Brindisi and IGT Salento wines.

Vineyards

mix newly planted vines with sections over 50 years old, many head-trained, ensuring concentration and balance. After harvest, the carefully selected grapes are laid out on straw mats in the Castel Serranova climate, where they sun dry and lose water, concentrating sugars and flavours. Fermentation follows, and the wine is matured for 12 months in French oak tonneaux, resulting in a wine of great intensity and finesse.

Tasting Notes

Complex aromas of black cherry, cassis, tobacco, dark chocolate and orange peel lead into an opulent palate layered with blackberry fruit and subtle spice. Full-bodied yet refined, with a savoury, meaty nuance that adds depth to the long, lifted finish. Food Match Perfect alongside fillet steak in a rich red wine sauce or other robust dishes that match its depth and power.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
