Gardner Street is named after the historic village of Herstmonceux, capturing the artisanal, hand-harvested craft of English winemaking. This modern blend marries fresh, floral Bacchus with a touch of barrel-fermented Chardonnay to produce a vibrant and expressive white wine.
Meet the Producer
When it comes to English wine there’s a lot to shout about, not least the stunning sparkling and still wines from Henners. Based in East Sussex, the estate combines traditional vineyard care with modern winemaking to craft wines full of character and freshness.
Production
Grapes are sourced from vineyard partners in Essex and Kent. Parcels were harvested separately and fermented as small lots to express the unique character of each site. Around 30% of the blend was fermented in neutral 300L French oak barrels and allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation, while the remaining parcels were fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel without malolactic conversion.
Tasting Notes
Bright, aromatic and zesty, the 2022 vintage is warm and generous. Elderflower and gooseberry aromas are accompanied by stone and citrus fruit flavours, including melon, white peach and orange. Hints of white currant and lime zest are softened by subtle creaminess from the barrel, delivering a beautifully balanced palate with fresh acidity and vibrant floral and fruit notes. Food Match Pairs beautifully with pork tenderloin in cider with mash and buttery vegetables, a vegetable lasagne, or hake in butter sauce with capers.
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
