Source-supplied bottle description

Retained as supporting identification copy; the structured facts and evidence links above are kept separate.

A seriously complex and generous Chianti Classico from San Felice, crafted from the estate’s oldest Sangiovese vines (80%) with select indigenous varieties including Pugnitello and Malvasia Nera. This full-bodied wine displays concentrated ripe plum, dried black fruit, and a sophisticated balance of fine tannins, spice, and fresh acidity, offering elegance now and remarkable potential for 5–10 years of cellaring.

Meet the Producer

San Felice is an outstanding Tuscan winery that has pioneered key developments in the Chianti Classico region for over 40 years, producing wines that reflect both tradition and the distinct personality of its estate vineyards.

Production

The Sangiovese grapes are sourced from the Colti, Chiesamonti, and Pianaccio vineyards, with other indigenous varieties (Abrusco, Pugnitello, Malvasia Nera, Ciliegiolo, and Mazzese) from Montebello, Civettino, Le Rose, La Cappella, and Camponovo vineyards, all averaging 400m altitude. Grapes are harvested in mid-October, fermented separately in stainless steel, and macerated for 22 days at 28–30°C. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 24 months—half in large Slavonian oak ovals (60–100 hl) and half in French oak barriques (225–500 l)—before spending a further 8 months in bottle prior to release.

Tasting Notes

The nose is ripe and spicy, with complex aromas of violets, cassis, tobacco, and liquorice. The palate is full-bodied, showing concentrated plum and dried black fruits, complemented by well-integrated spicy oak and fine tannins. Balanced acidity and a subtle sour cherry twist complete the long, elegant finish. Food Match Pairs beautifully with roast or grilled meats, or game for those who enjoy heartier dishes. This wine deserves bold, flavourful fare. Grape Varieties Sangiovese 80%, Pugnitello, Malvasia Nera

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
