The Soave wine region in the hills east of Verona is best known for its crisp white wines made with the indigenous Garganega grape, but the Inama family are determined to show the world the true extent their homeland’s incredible potential. The family have been making wine on their estate for over fifty years since it was founded by Giuseppe Inama and first began making this iconic Italian Sauvignon Blanc in the early 1990s when Giuseppe’s visionary son, Stefano, joined the company. The Vulcaia Fume is made in a seductive smoky style with fermentation in 30% highly-toasted new oak barrels and 70% used barrels to give a delicate balance between fresh fruit character and deep spicy and vanilla undertones. On the nose there are powerful aromas of ripe tropical fruit, citrus and white flowers set off by hints of vanilla and roasted coffee beans. The first sip reveals a opulent texture and invigorating stone fruit flavours complemented by rich buttery notes. This unique Sauvignon Blanc truly expresses the potential of the Soave terroir with its rich volcanic soils and gentle climate. Over the years the Vulcaia Fume has picked up a plethora of awards around the world and gained a reputation as one of the finest and most unusual white wines being made in Italy today.
