Kovacs Nimrod Blues is a compelling, terroir-driven red wine crafted from Kekfrankos, one of Hungary's most characterful indigenous varieties. Sourced exclusively from the Nagyfai and Nyilasmár Monopole terroirs in the celebrated Eger region, this is a wine of real precision and personality, with vibrant red fruit, refreshing acidity, and a beautifully spiced finish.

Meet the Producer

Kovacs Nimrod is one of Eger's most forward-thinking estates, farming its vineyards organically and focusing on Burgundian and Northern Rhone varieties alongside Hungary's finest indigenous grapes. The estate holds three classified vineyards, including two Grand Cru sites at Nagy Eged and Nyilasmár, and the 12-hectare Premier Cru Nagyfai vineyard in Noszvaj, producing wines of exceptional quality and a strong sense of place. Vineyard and Production Grapes are sourced exclusively from the Nagyfai and Nyilasmár Monopole terroirs, where mineral-rich soils on south-facing slopes produce distinctive, fruit-packed wines of real finesse. The wine undergoes wild yeast fermentation before ageing for 20 months in a combination of new Hungarian oak and second-fill French oak barrels.

Production

is limited to around 2,700 bottles per release.

Tasting Notes

A deep ruby colour introduces aromas of red cherries, redcurrant, and hints of leather. The medium-bodied palate is refreshingly vibrant, with juicy red fruit, lively acidity, and a touch of spice on the finish.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
