Lágrima, meaning “tears,” is the sweetest style of white Port, offering a luxuriously smooth and richly aromatic experience. This traditional Portuguese wine showcases the intense flavours and elegance of the Douro Valley’s finest white grapes.
Meet the Producer
Wiese & Krohn was founded in 1865 by two Norwegians, Theodor Wiese and Dankert Krohn, initially exporting Ports to Scandinavia. Today, the house continues to craft exceptional Ports, combining heritage techniques with careful attention to quality and consistency.
Production
The grapes are grown on the schistous soils of the Douro region, giving the wine its unique minerality and depth. Vinification takes place in closed fermentation tanks, with fermentation interrupted by the addition of grape brandy to preserve the wine’s natural sweetness. The wine is then aged in wood in Wiese & Krohn’s cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, allowing subtle complexity to develop.
Tasting Notes
A sweet, elegant white Port with intense aromas and flavours of caramel, honey, and toasted nuts. Fresh acidity balances the sweetness, leading to a long, satisfying, and harmonious finish. Food match Enjoy chilled as an aperitif or paired with fruity desserts. Being filtered, it does not require decanting, and once opened will remain enjoyable for several weeks. Grape Malvasia Fina, Gouveio, Rabigato
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
