Louis Jadot Château des Jacques Morgon is an extremely rich and generous Cru Beaujolais from one of the region's most celebrated appellations. Crafted from 100% Gamay grapes grown on the distinctive granite and schist soils of Morgon, this wine offers plenty of supple fruit alongside a hearty richness that makes it superb with cold meats and casseroles.
Why You'll Love It
This is Cru Beaujolais at its finest—rich, generous, and beautifully structured. Since 1996, Louis Jadot has been purchasing vineyards in Morgon, and the wine from these sites is now made under the prestigious Château des Jacques label. The result is a wine that showcases the unique terroir of Morgon with exceptional depth and character, offering outstanding quality and food-pairing versatility.
Vineyard & Production
Sourced from vineyards across Morgon's six 'climates': Les Charmes, Corcelette, Côte du Py, Douby, Les Grands Cras and Les Micouds. The underlying soil is granite, with a distinctive schist known as 'roche pourrie' that gives Morgon its characteristic richness. The wine is fermented for 12 to 20 days in vats, allowing the Gamay grapes to express their full potential while maintaining freshness and structure.
Tasting Notes
This generous Morgon opens with aromas of ripe red and black fruit, layered with notes of cherry, blackberry and subtle spice. The palate is rich and supple, showing plenty of fruit character with earthy undertones and a hearty texture. The finish is long and satisfying, with fine tannins and balanced acidity.
Perfect Pairings
A versatile food wine, perfect with traditional Boeuf Bourguignon, cold meats, casseroles, charcuterie, roasted poultry, or hearty stews. Also excellent with grilled meats and rustic French cuisine.
The Blend
100% Gamay from Morgon, Beaujolais
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
