Enjoy it now or cellar for a few years. No need to decant before serving. This is a mineral, citrus-driven white wine, packed with aromas of lemon peel, green apple skin, lemongrass and wet rock. Rather than a single vineyard, the fruits were sourced from a single soil type - granite soils, all within the region of Vinho Verde, ranging from 50 to 100 metres in altitude. Luis Seabra is regarded as one of the leaders of the Portuguese wine renaissance. His winery was founded in 2013, but he draws from over two decades of experience in the industry, from working as a soil expert in Vinho Verde to producing revolutionary still wines in Douro. He compares his wines to jazz music - experimental and endlessly varied. However, unlike jazz music, they are not necessarily an acquired taste - Luis Seabra’s wines can be enjoyed by anybody. The Granito Cru is crafted from 100% Alvarinho, and the fruits were harvested from their original birthplace, the region of Monçao e Melgaço in Vinho Verde. It is strikingly bold on the palate, with pure notes of lemon, peach, apple and mango. The fruit notes are underpinned by an electrifying acidity and notable minerality. This wine is suitable for vegans and was made using low-intervention methods. Consider pairing it with salty seafood, ceviche, or soft cheeses.
