Owned by André Lurton and serving as the second wine of Château de Rochemorin, Château Coucheroy is a must-try in Pessac-Léognan. It takes its name from the Gascon word ‘Couchyroy’: according to legend, the future King Henry IV is said to have taken refuge there for the night during a stormy evening! This 2023 vintage presents a deep, brilliant purple colour, a sign of a fine vintage. On the nose, ripe fruit dominates (blackcurrant, blackberry, cherry) with a very pleasant hint of vanilla and spice. On the palate, it is approachable, with a fresh attack, generous and well-balanced, with fine tannins that give it structure. A wine that is already a pleasure to drink, but which will gain even more complexity with a few years’ cellaring.
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
