Magpie Estate Rag and Bone Riesling is a vibrant and characterful white wine from a single vineyard high on the eastern side of Eden Valley in South Australia . Eden Valley is one of Australia's most celebrated regions for Riesling, prized for producing wines of exceptional vibrancy, purity and longevity, and Rag and Bone is a fine example of why.

Why You'll Love It

The story behind this wine is as characterful as the wine itself. When only half the fruit from this exceptional single vineyard was needed, the rest was nearly discarded. Magpie Estate stepped in, inspired by the idea that one man's trash is another man's treasure. The name came when a rag and bone van pulled up outside during a brainstorm. The result is a wine of real personality and precision, rescued from obscurity and all the better for it. Vineyard and Production Sourced from a single vineyard high up on the eastern side of Eden Valley, where warm days and cool nights allow the grapes to develop ripe, intense fruit flavours while retaining the zing and acidity that defines great Eden Valley Riesling. Grapes are harvested in the cool hours of the morning and delivered immediately to the winery, where they are processed gently through a tank press. The juice is cold settled for three days before being transferred into fermentation tanks, preserving the wine's natural freshness and aromatic purity.

Tasting Notes

A floral nose of jasmine, lime zest and waxed lemons over crushed marble. The palate is bright, taut and citrusy, with citrus oils adding to the palate weight. Crisp yet with plenty of body, finishing long and nervy with real persistence and drive.

Perfect Pairings

A natural partner for bold, aromatic dishes. Try it with chilli prawns, green Thai curry, fish or chicken laksa with chilli, coconut, ginger and lime. Also excellent alongside sushi, soft goat's cheese or a light seafood salad.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
