Marchesi di Grésy Gaiun Martinenga, Barbaresco is a powerful and age-worthy expression of Nebbiolo from one of Piemonte’s most esteemed producers. Sourced from the Gaiun vineyard within the celebrated Martinenga cru, this classic Barbaresco showcases depth, elegance and remarkable ageing potential.

Tasting Notes

The nose reveals intense aromas of dried cranberries, tobacco, eucalyptus, iron and tar. On the palate, concentrated dried red fruits dominate, supported by ripe, structured tannins. A long, persistent finish carries hints of tobacco spice and savoury complexity.

Vineyard & Production

Crafted by winemaker Alberto di Grésy, this 100% Nebbiolo undergoes vinification on skins with floating and submerged cap fermentation over 8–20 days. Daily pumping over ensures optimal extraction. Malolactic fermentation is completed at controlled temperatures, followed by 20–28 months ageing in French Allier oak barriques and further bottle maturation before release.

Food Pairing

A superb match for rich red meats, especially roast lamb or beef. Also pairs beautifully with game dishes and mature hard cheeses. Why Choose This Wine? Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
