Markus Huber's winery is one of the most renowned in Austria, with award-winning wines exported all over the world. The estate extends over approximately 50 hectares of vineyards where the most cultivated variety is Gruner Veltliner, Austrian flagship grape. The Gruner Veltliner grapes come from the Alte Setz vineyard, with an eastern exposure and a soil made of deep loess located above the conglomerate of the Hollenburg-Karlstetten formation, made up of limestone and dolomite boulders deposited approximately 15 million years ago. The soil and the vines, which are more than 60 years old, guarantee the production of high-quality grapes. Fermentation takes place half in large acacia barrels and half in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The finished wine is then left to rest for 5 months on the yeasts. This elegant Gruner Veltliner has a yellow color with greenish shades. On the nose, it reveals aromas of yellow apple, stone fruit, and spices, followed by hints of tropical fruit. On the palate, it is fresh and vibrant, juicy and fruity. It is a complex wine with a long aftertaste and excellent aging potential. It works well with blue cheeses and Asian food.
