Official geographic-register context

What the official register confirms about Priorat

BottlePicker found an exact region-name match in an official wine or spirits register. This establishes useful regional context; it does not by itself prove that this particular bottle is entitled to the designation. Check the producer label and specification for that claim.

Cellar for up to 15 years. Decant for 1 hour or more before serving. This is the signature wine from one of Catalonia’s finest wineries. Although the region of Priorat is often overshadowed by Rioja, it is swiftly becoming the go-to location for affordable yet excellent red Spanish wine. This one begins with a precise nose of blackberry, plum, orange, tobacco smoke, and liquorice. It was made from a blend of Carignan and Grenache. Mas Doix was founded in 1998 by Valenti and Ramon Llagostera. The winery’s vineyards span the cooler side of Priorat, in the shadows of the Monsant and Molló mountains. Priorat can be a harsh region and is dominated by the ‘llicorella’ slate, which provides a clean minerality to the grapes that grow here. The grapes for Doix were plucked by hand from very old vines around the village of Poboleda, ranging between 70 and 100 years old. Despite its old spirit, it is exceedingly fresh and exuberant on the palate, with full flavours of plum, red berries, white pepper, citrus, and smoke. Fine tannins prop up a lengthy finish. It was aged for 14 months in French oak barrels before bottling. Doix is a great wine for matching with red meats, hard cheese, or a savoury vegetable stew.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
