Merry Edwards Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is a sophisticated and deeply expressive Pinot Noir from one of California's most celebrated and pioneering estates, crafted from carefully selected parcels along the Sonoma Coast. Combining multiple clones and vineyard sites, this is a wine of remarkable complexity, elegance and coastal freshness.

Why You'll Love It

Merry Edwards has been producing world-class Pinot Noir in the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast since 1977, building a reputation as one of California's most gifted and influential winemakers. Her expertise in clonal research led to the development of the Merry Edwards Selection (UCD37), now a benchmark clone for quality California Pinot Noir. Certified Sustainable since 2017 and vegan-friendly, this is a winery that combines passion, precision and a deep respect for the land. The Sonoma Coast bottling showcases the full breadth of the estate's vineyard resources in a single, beautifully crafted wine.

Vineyard & Production

Made from 100% destemmed grapes sourced from multiple parcels along the Sonoma Coast, blending UCD37, 667, 777, 115, Swan and Martini Pommard clones to create a wine of balance and finesse. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, 44% new, sourced from Doreau, D&J and F. Freres coopers. The wine is carefully blended to express the diverse characteristics of the Sonoma Coast vineyards.

Tasting Notes

A complex and exotic nose of cardamom, tamarind, allspice and cinnamon, layered with candied red cherries, raspberries, wild strawberries, boysenberries and blackberries. Additional notes of cocoa nibs, cola, white chocolate, candied violets, creme brulee, caramel and a hint of blood orange add aromatic depth. The palate is lush and succulent, with round tannins, bright acidity, finely integrated oak and a long, spicy black pepper finish.

Perfect Pairings

Perfect as an aperitif or alongside early courses, roasted poultry, rich fish dishes and a banquet of charcuterie and seasonal vegetables.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
