Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in the Bierzo wine region, the Michelini i Mufatto winery was founded by Andrea Mufatto and Gerardo Michelini, with the help of Javier González, after several projects in their home country of Argentina. The winery works with native varieties and favors a philosophy of minimal intervention in the winery to best enhance the terroir and winemaking traditions of the area. The Mencia grapes come from a vineyard located in Molinaseca, in the province of León. Here the centuries-old vines sink their roots in loam, with slate and quartz soils and give low yields, guaranteeing wines of great concentration and quality. After manual harvesting and spontaneous fermentation in wooden vats, the finished wine rests for a little longer than a year in French oak barrels before bottling. A Merced wine has a fragrant and delicate aromatic profile with elegant floral and wild herb notes and some light earthy hints. On the palate, it is complex and expressive with a medium body and soft tannins. It has a refreshing and well-balanced acidity and a long and refined finish. Try it with pork tenderloin with mushrooms, Chorizo sausage or Manchego cheese.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
