Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Michelini i Mufatto is a family winery founded in 2015 in Bierzo by Andrea Mufatto and Gerardo Michelini. During one of their trips, the Argentine couple discovered a series of abandoned vineyards around the village of Ozuela, located on slopes rich in schist with enormous potential, and decided to found their Spanish winery and dedicate themselves to the native grape varieties and the restoration of the old vineyards. The Mencia grapes are selected and hand-picked from two organically managed plots located in the Petra area, in San Lorenzo, in the municipality of Ponferrada at about 680 meters above sea level. Here, the eighty-year-old vines enjoy southern exposure and are rooted in slate and quartz soils. After spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in clay amphorae, the finished wine ages for a bit longer than 12 months in used oak barrels. La Petra reveals an intense and fruity aromatic profile with notes of strawberry and raspberry, followed by delicate floral scents. On the palate, it is rich and soft, balanced and fruity with velvety tannins and a pleasant refreshing acidity that lingers on the finish. It is a characterful and elegant wine that can pair well with red meats and roast lamb.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
