Hailing from Montresor’s prestigious Capitel della Crosara vineyard in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico zone, this Ripasso Superiore is a vibrant, richly flavoured expression of Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara. Bursting with fresh cherry fruit, warm spice, and subtle vanilla, it is a fine example of the Ripasso method at its best.
Meet the Producer
Founded in 1892 by Giacomo Montresor, this historic Verona house has earned a reputation for high-quality Valpolicella and Amarone wines. The winery combines traditional techniques with meticulous vineyard management to craft wines of elegance, depth, and regional authenticity.
Production
Grapes are hand-harvested in October from traditional trellised vines planted on marl soils in the hills of Negrar. The wine is made using the Ripasso method, where unpressed skins from Amarone production are added to young Valpolicella wine, initiating a secondary fermentation that enriches flavour and alcohol. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in a combination of French and American oak casks, including small barriques, to enhance texture and complexity.
Tasting Notes
A warm, inviting nose of morello cherry, ripe plum, and hints of dried fruit. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, with crunchy black cherry, brown spice, vanilla, and a touch of liquorice. The long finish reveals the signature bitter cherry character typical of Ripasso wines. Food match Pairs beautifully with lamb shank, calf’s liver, mushroom pasta dishes, or hard cheeses. Grape Corvina 70%, Rondinella 20%, Molinara 10%
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
