Tawny Dee from Niepoort is the more contemplative twin of Ruby Dum, a Port wine that develops subtlety and elegance with time. Hailing from the Douro Valley in Portugal, it is aged in small, old oak casks in the cool lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia, allowing its dried stone fruit and nutty characters to unfold gracefully.

Meet the Producer

Niepoort , a historic family-owned producer in the Douro and Porto regions, is celebrated for its skill in crafting Ports and Douro wines that express both elegance and the unique terroir of the region.

Production

Originating from low-yielding vineyards in the Cima Corgo region, the grapes are predominantly trodden in traditional Lagares. Tawny Dee, with an average age of three and a half years, is aged in small old oak casks to integrate its flavours and develop a refined, balanced character.

Tasting Notes

The wine shows a brick red to tawny colour, with delicate nutty aromas and hints of dried fruits. On the palate, it is well balanced, with a youthful yet luscious character that flows into a long, spirity finish. Food match Pairs beautifully with nut-based desserts such as pecan pie, hazelnut torte, or fruitcake, as well as fruit tarts like apple pie. Also complements burnt sugar desserts such as crème brûlée or crème caramel, and non-blue cheeses including Manchego, smoked Gouda, or Gruyere.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
