Cellar for up to 20 years. Decant for up to 2 hours before serving. This is Bodega Numanthia’s signature wine - a deep cherry red in the glass, alive with scents of plum, ripe blackberry, sweet spice and swirling smoke. After some time breathing, it will also reveal hints of garrigue and minerality. This bold red wine is made from 100% Toro del Tinto, a variety of Tempranillo native to the region of Toro in Castilla y León, Spain. Bodega Numanthia harbours some of the oldest Toro del Tinto vines in the country, which have been at home in the dry Spanish soil for up to a century. Head wine-maker Lucas Löwi sourced the fruits from 100 different plots across the region of Toro, before fine-tuning a multifaceted taste of this esteemed region. It was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels and spent three further years in the bottle before release. This estate signature is well worth the wait. The palate is laden with velvety tannins, fresh acidity and an integrated outline of oak. Look for notes of red cherry and cassis interlaced with black pepper, cocoa, cloves and tobacco smoke. It is ripe and voluminous in the mouth, but never overly heavy. You can find some classic Tempranillo notes on the finish. Consider pairing this Toro with roasted lamb, filet mignon, or manchego cheese.
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
