What is in this wine, and where it grows
The wine
Ontanon Rioja Crianza Tinto 2022 Wine (75cl) is recorded as a 2022 red wine made from Tempranillo and Garnacha in Rioja, Spain.
Typical grape profile: Tempranillo — Cherry and plum with leather and vanilla from oak ageing, classic in Rioja; Garnacha — The Spanish name for Grenache — juicy red fruit and warm spice. The finished bottle can differ with vintage and winemaking.

No verified vineyard or named parcel is linked yet. BottlePicker therefore does not assign a soil, elevation or site temperature to this bottle from its regional name alone.
Soil structure and vine density
No site-specific soil or planting-density record is available for this bottle.
Growing-temperature context
For general cultivar-level heat guidance, see the Tempranillo and Garnacha growing profiles. BottlePicker does not apply a generic range to this bottle without a verified vineyard link.
Official geographic-register context
What the official register confirms about Rioja
BottlePicker found an exact region-name match in an official wine or spirits register. This establishes useful regional context; it does not by itself prove that this particular bottle is entitled to the designation. Check the producer label and specification for that claim.

Bodegas Ontañón Rioja Crianza is a benchmark expression of classic Rioja, crafted from old-vine Tempranillo and Garnacha grown on the slopes of the Sierra Yergas in Rioja Baja. Aged in a combination of American and French oak before further bottle maturation, this is a wine that delivers everything you expect from a great Crianza — and then some.
Why You'll Love It
This is Rioja Crianza at its most reliable and rewarding. Ontañón's 5th-generation family winery has built its reputation on wines that consistently over-deliver, and this is no exception. Whether you're a committed Rioja devotee or simply looking for a crowd-pleasing red with real character, this wine will never let you down. Vegetarian, vegan, and sustainably produced.
Vineyard & Production
Sourced from 40-year-old vines in the La Montesa and Siete Caminos vineyards around Quel, south of the River Ebro. Following a long maceration, the wine spends 12 months in 60% American and 40% French oak barrels (a mix of new and used), then a further 12 months in bottle before release — giving it the structure and polish that defines the Crianza style.
Tasting Notes
Intense black fruit and warm spice on the nose, with ripe, plush fruit on the palate. Balancing freshness and supple tannins give the wine excellent depth and approachability. A very classic Crianza — juicy bramble fruits, rounded oak, and a long, smooth finish.
Perfect Pairings
A natural partner for roast chicken and game, meaty pasta dishes, hard cheeses, and slow-cooked lamb. Also excellent alongside a charcuterie board or a hearty beef casserole.
The Blend
Tempranillo 90%, Garnacha 10%
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
