Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Oxer Wines is a young winery created by Oxer Bastegieta, a Basque winemaker who moved to Rioja to create excellent wines from old vines. From there, Oxer expanded to the Toro region, maintaining its ecological approach in the vineyard, with maximum respect for the environment, and carrying out a philosophy of minimal intervention in the cellar. Despite the young age of his company, his wines are already recognized and acclaimed internationally. Kuusu is a red blend produced with a majority of Tinta de Toro and small additions of Albillo Mayor. The grapes are harvested from a 0.9-hectare vineyard located in the municipality of Villabuena del Puente. Here the vines, planted in 1920, sink their roots into sandy soils rich in quartz. After fermentation with indigenous yeasts in used French oak vats and barrels, the finished wine is aged for 12 months in 600-liter vats. In the glass, the wine reveals a fresh and fragrant aromatic profile with notes of berries and violets. On the palate, it is juicy and concentrated with a medium-full body and fine tannins. It is round and soft with a long and tasty finish. It is an elegant and well-structured wine that can be kept for a few years in the cellar or enjoyed immediately with ham or roast suckling pig.
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
