Papia Pinot Grigio is a fresh, light, and appealingly crisp Italian white from the Oltrepo Pavese in Lombardia, produced by Adria Vini, a joint venture between Boutinot and Araldica Castelvero. Lower in alcohol, vegan friendly, and built for easy, uncomplicated enjoyment, this is an everyday Pinot Grigio with genuine character. The name Papia is the Latin root for Pavia, the city at the heart of this underrated northern Italian wine region.
Why You'll Love It
Established in 2003, Adria Vini combines British market insight with deep Italian winemaking expertise to produce wines that are approachable without sacrificing quality. Papia is their everyday white: lower in alcohol, lightly off-dry, and full of fresh apple and citrus character. The kind of bottle that works equally well on a Tuesday evening or at a summer gathering, without demanding too much thought or ceremony. Vineyard and Production Pinot Grigio grapes are sourced from key partners in the Oltrepo Pavese region of Pavia and fermented to around 11% ABV. This is blended with 15% of a Cortese component with fermentation deliberately stopped at 9% ABV and 20g/l sugar, resulting in around 5g/l residual sugar that gives a little more weight and roundness to the mid-palate. Winemaker: Claudio Manera. Screwcap closure. Contains sulphites. Vegan and vegetarian.
Tasting Notes
Apple and citrus aromas on the nose, leading to a crisp, clean, and delicate palate with lightly floral notes, lemony freshness, and a bright, dry finish. Light, lively, and very easy to enjoy.
Perfect Pairings
Perfect on its own as a chilled aperitif, and a natural partner for pizza, pasta dishes, grilled white fish, and light salads. Also excellent with antipasti, soft cheeses, and summer sharing plates.
The Blend
Pinot Grigio 85%, Cortese 15%.
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
