Peter Lehmann's The Black Queen Sparkling Shiraz is an icon of the Barossa, embodying the region's generosity and depth in a uniquely Australian style. Rich, refined, and celebratory, this wine is the perfect meeting point of power and elegance, crafted from premium Shiraz and finished with the traditional méthode champenoise. With 36 months on lees and a touch of vintage Port as expedition liqueur, this is sparkling Shiraz at its finest.

Why You'll Love It

This is iconic Australian sparkling Shiraz from one of the Barossa's most respected producers. Crafted using the traditional méthode champenoise with 36 months on lees, it develops remarkable complexity and fine bubbles. Sourced from four long-term growers in the renowned Ebenezer and Light Pass districts, with 12 months in French oak and a unique addition of The King Vintage Port as expedition liqueur, this wine offers exceptional depth and festive richness. A true celebration wine.

Meet the Producer

Founded in 1979 by Peter Lehmann, the winery was born out of a promise to support Barossa grape growers during a time of hardship. Today, Peter Lehmann Wines continues that legacy — championing the region's growers, celebrating its heritage, and crafting wines that express the full character and warmth of the Barossa Valley.

Production

Fruit for The Black Queen is sourced from four long-term growers — Schrapel, Hampel, Gladigau, and Grope — in the renowned Ebenezer and Light Pass districts. Grapes are chosen for their silky tannins and sweet red-berry fruit. After a 10-day fermentation on skins, the wine is pressed, clarified, and matured for 12 months in older French oak hogsheads. The base wine then undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle and is aged on yeast lees for 36 months. Upon disgorgement, a small addition of The King Vintage Port as expedition liqueur adds depth and a touch of festive richness.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
