Produced by one of Etna’s leading family-run estates, the Pietrarizzo Etna Bianco takes its name from the plot from which it is sourced, one of the highest on the estate. Situated at an altitude of 700 metres on the northern slope of Mount Etna, the Carricante grapes – blended with a touch of Cataratto and aged on lees for five months in large oak casks – combine the benefits of high altitude with fertile volcanic soils. These wines, with their very distinctive flavour, are characterised by a lovely freshness and a delightful savouriness. On the nose, this Pietrarizzo Etna Bianco immediately reveals its freshness and Mediterranean character, blending notes of green apple, ripe summer fruits and citrus, with hints of herbaceous, smoky and woody nuances. On the palate, it is both lively and full-bodied, displaying lovely harmony, underpinned by the minerality, tension and hint of salinity characteristic of volcanic wines. The long, lingering and slightly mentholated finish is the final touch that wins you over. At the table, it is the ideal companion for seafood dishes.
