Located in the commune of Eichhoffen, the Moenchberg Grand Cru sits on marl-limestone soils mixed with schist fragments and benefits from a south-facing aspect. This terroir promotes optimal ripeness of the grapes and gives the wines structure and depth. Domaine Boeckel, based in Mittelbergheim, cultivates a 47-acre plot planted in 2014. Certified organic, the estate prioritises sustainable viticulture to preserve the expression of the terroir. Vinification involves hand-harvesting, pneumatic pressing of whole grapes and slow, temperature-controlled fermentation. Twelve months' ageing in oak barrels brings structure and complexity whilst preserving the varietal's aromatic precision. This 2020 vintage is characterised by a dry, structured wine, displaying aromatic notes of ripe fruit, sweet spices and a slight smoky note. On the palate, it offers a full-bodied texture supported by a mineral backbone and a lingering finish. This wine also has an ageing potential of up to 10 years.
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
