What the official register confirms about Rioja

BottlePicker found an exact region-name match in an official wine or spirits register. This establishes useful regional context; it does not by itself prove that this particular bottle is entitled to the designation. Check the producer label and specification for that claim.

Queirón Mi Lugar Blanco is a refined and expressive white wine from the village of Quel, in the Rioja Oriental subregion of Spain. Crafted entirely from Tempranillo Blanco grown at 640 metres altitude on the Finca El Aniceto vineyard, this wine captures the freshness and aromatic complexity of high-altitude Rioja. Slow, gradual ripening in poor clay, sand, and loam soils results in concentrated fruit and vibrant acidity. Barrel and amphora ageing add texture and depth, creating a wine of precision, elegance, and length.

Meet the Producer

The Queirón winery is located in the village of Quel, nestled between the Sierra de Yerga and Sierra la Hez mountain ranges. The Pérez Cuevas family, founders of Queirón, have been growing vines in Rioja for generations and are deeply connected to the land. Their wines are crafted with a focus on terroir, tradition, and innovation, showcasing the distinctive character of Quel through both red and white expressions.

Production

Tempranillo Blanco grapes are harvested in the early morning and protected with dry ice to preserve freshness. Fermentation begins with indigenous yeasts, lasting one week at 14°C on the skins and another at 16°C off the skins with free-run juice. The final stage of fermentation takes place in 500-litre French oak barrels. After fermentation, 85% of the wine remains in barrel for six months on fine lees with gentle stirring, while 15% ages in amphorae for six months with lees in suspension. The wine is then bottle-aged for a further six months before release.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of stone fruit, white blossom, fennel, and thyme lead into a bright, layered palate of apricot, peach, and passion fruit. Subtle hints of honeyed brioche, almond, and gentle oak spice add complexity. Medium-bodied with fine structure and a long, elegant finish marked by delicate touches of clove and smoke. Food match Perfect with cod cheeks fried gently in butter or light tempura courgette. Grape Tempranillo Blanco 100%

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
