Barolo DOCG Marcenasco is a distinguished expression of Nebbiolo from the historic vineyards of Piedmont, Italy. The wine originates from the “Marcenascum” area, where historical records from the 12th century confirm the long-standing cultivation of Nebbiolo. Barolo Marcenasco is renowned for its elegance, structure, and capacity for long ageing, making it one of the crown jewels of Piedmontese winemaking.
Meet the Producer
The Marcenasco vineyard has been producing fine Nebbiolo wines since 1965, upholding traditional Piedmontese viticulture while blending modern techniques to preserve the grape’s natural character and express the terroir.
Production
Harvested in October, the Nebbiolo grapes are destemmed and crushed before undergoing thermo-controlled fermentation at 30°C (85°F). The wine macerates for 7–10 days to extract colour, tannins, and aromatic complexity. Malolactic fermentation occurs in November in oak barrels, followed by two years of ageing in large 25hl and 50hl oak barrels to develop structure and finesse.
Tasting Notes
Garnet red in colour, Barolo Marcenasco displays a complex bouquet with notes of liquorice, tobacco, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied, elegant, and richly flavoured, combining power, harmony, and smoothness. The wine’s refined tannins and vibrant acidity give it exceptional ageing potential of over 20 years.
Food Pairing
Barolo Marcenasco is perfect with roasted or grilled red meats, game, and traditional Piedmontese “grande cuisine” dishes. It also complements mature cheeses beautifully, enhancing both the food and the wine.

Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
