Made from 27-year-old vines rooted in the deep red soils of Durbanville, Diemersdal's Pinotage Reserve 2023 embodies the authenticity of South Africa's iconic grape variety, particularly in the coastal region of Durbanville. Grown without irrigation on slopes exposed to Atlantic breezes, this 100% Pinotage benefits from a cool climate that promotes slow ripening and intense varietal expression. Vinified in open vats with regular pumping over, then aged for 16 months in French oak barrels (40% new), it offers a full-bodied and refined structure. On the palate, it reveals deep, full-bodied aromas of black fruit, plum, dark chocolate and sweet spices, supported by ripe tannins and a lovely freshness. Its long, persistent and harmonious finish reflects the expertise of the Louw family, which has been passed down through six generations.
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
