The Mandelberg Grand Cru is one of Domaine Trimbach’s most distinctive cuvées. Situated in Mittelwihr, this exceptional terroir lies on the estate’s steepest slope – a prime location that allows the grapes to achieve remarkable ripeness whilst retaining the freshness essential to great Rieslings. Acquired by the Trimbach family in 1996, this plot was long known as Cuvée M, before being officially named Mandelberg from the 2016 vintage onwards. Its name, meaning ‘almond tree hill’, evokes a site characterised by greater sunshine, where the soils of marl, limestone and pebbles lend the wine a unique character: a full-bodied texture, fruity depth and a lingering minerality. True to the house’s style, Trimbach seeks here the perfect balance between richness and precision, with a dry, elegant Riesling that is well-suited to ageing. The 2022 vintage reveals the full grandeur of this terroir, offering a generous and concentrated wine, underpinned by a lovely natural freshness. Produced in a run of just a few thousand bottles, the Mandelberg Grand Cru remains a rare cuvée, which elegantly expresses the marriage of a great Alsatian terroir and the Trimbach family’s historic expertise.
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
