Why You'll Love It
Szamorodni is a unique Tokaji style that predates the famous Aszú wines, made from whole bunches containing a mix of botrytis-affected and healthy grapes. This traditional method creates a wine with remarkable complexity and character at an accessible price point. Crafted by Royal Tokaji, one of the region's leading producers, this Sweet Szamorodni offers exceptional quality and a fascinating glimpse into Hungary's rich winemaking heritage.
Meet the Producer
Royal Tokaji focuses on producing traditional wines that showcase the unique terroir and centuries-old winemaking heritage of Hungary's Tokaj region. The estate combines careful vineyard selection with meticulous cellar techniques to achieve wines of exceptional balance and finesse, honouring both Aszú and Szamorodni styles.
Production
The 2019 vintage began with a cool spring followed by a hot summer, often exceeding 35°C with occasional showers, accelerating grape maturation. October provided ideal conditions, with sunny, dry days that favoured botrytis development. A generous portion of Aszú berries was included in the blend, resulting in outstanding richness and complexity. The Furmint and Hárslevelű grapes were harvested in early November, pressed, and fermented in tanks. The wine then matured for nearly two years in barrels, developing its characteristic depth, structure, and aromatic complexity.
Tasting Notes
Golden in colour, it offers expressive aromas of plums, apricots, honey, and spice. The palate is full and luscious, enriched by hints of hone
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
