On the heights of Rully, the 1er Cru Les Cloux occupies a south-facing slope where limestone and stony soils mingle with fine clays, offering the Chardonnay an ideal setting to express its purity and mineral depth.Under the guidance of Domaine A. & P. de Villaine, pioneers of exacting and respectful viticulture, this plot produces a luminous, precise wine bursting with freshness. The 2023 vintage, generous and harmonious, magnifies the terroir's straightforward and refined character. The golden colour with silvery highlights heralds an elegant nose, woven with white flowers, candied lemon, fresh almond and damp chalk. On the palate, the wine combines fullness and tension, with a caressing texture carried by fine acidity and vibrant minerality. The finish, salty and pure, leaves an impression of clarity and serenity, typical of Aubert de Villaine's touch. This Rully 1er Cru Les Cloux 2023 perfectly illustrates the estate's style: a wine without artifice, sincere and deeply Burgundian, where the elegance of the fruit harmonises with the precision of the terroir. The ageing process, carried out with extreme delicacy (in oak barrels with a low proportion of new wood), respects the wine's natural balance and enhances its silky texture. Enjoy it now for its crystalline freshness; it will reach its full harmony after 5 to 8 years of ageing. It pairs beautifully with pan-fried scallops, sea bass in beurre blanc, asparagus risotto or a mature hard cheese.
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
