San Marzano ‘F is a bold and beautifully structured red from Puglia, this Negroamaro exudes rich notes of violet, ripe plum, cocoa, and tobacco, with subtle hints of liquorice adding depth. Full-bodied and velvety, it finishes long and perfectly balanced — a powerful yet elegant expression of southern Italy. About the Producer Founded in 1962 by 19 passionate vine growers, Cantine San Marzano has grown into one of Italy’s most acclaimed cooperatives, uniting more than 1,200 members across Puglia. The winery blends deep-rooted tradition with modern winemaking expertise to create wines that capture the authentic character of the region. In 2022, San Marzano was named Cooperative Winery of the Year by Gambero Rosso, recognising its continued pursuit of quality and innovation. Vineyard Sourced from a single vineyard in Contrada di Monte la Conca, sitting 100 metres above sea level, the vines thrive in loamy, calcareous soils rich in iron oxides, giving the land its distinct reddish hue. The warm, dry climate and cooling sea breezes promote healthy, concentrated fruit. The traditional Alberello (bush vine) training system ensures low yields and remarkable flavour intensity. Water management techniques, including minimal irrigation and careful soil cultivation, help the vines endure the southern heat.
Winemaking
The grapes were hand-harvested when slightly overripe to enhance depth and richness. After destemming and gentle crushing, a short cold soak maceration was carried out to extract colour and aromatics. Fermentation took place under temperature control in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic conversion to soften the palate. The wine was then matured for 12 months in 225-litre French and Caucasian oak barrels to develop complexity and texture.
Tasting Notes

Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
