The description below is the retailer’s own wording.

Sasso al Poggio, which could be translated as ‘Stone on the Hill’, is characterised by its lovely minerality. Made from a blend of grape varieties grown on the clayey and stony soils of the Piccini estates in Castelnuovo Berardenga and the Maremma, the Sangiovese, Cabernet and Merlot are vinified separately in stainless steel tanks, before ageing for 12 months in oak barrels, followed by 4 months in the bottle. On the nose, this IGT Toscana red wine offers aromas of black cherry, liquorice and forest floor, enhanced by mineral, oaky and vanilla notes. On the palate, it is deep, full-bodied and rich, revealing a heart of juicy fruit, well-integrated tannins and harmonious oak. Powerful and velvety, whilst undergoing ageing to enhance its fruity and spicy character, Sasso al Poggio is the perfect accompaniment to red meat, a porcini mushroom risotto or truffle pasta.
