Sichel Sauternes is a luscious sweet white wine from the renowned Sauternes appellation, southeast of Bordeaux. Crafted from a blend of Sémillon (80%), Sauvignon Blanc (20%), and a touch of Muscadelle, the wine is produced from vines averaging 50 years old. Its complexity and richness are derived from the region’s unique terroir, low yields, and the influence of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), which develops thanks to the morning mists along the Ciron River and warm autumn afternoons.
Meet the Producer
Maison Sichel, based in Sauternes, has a long-standing tradition of producing high-quality sweet wines. The estate combines meticulous vineyard management with careful vinification to craft wines that reflect the elegance and intensity of their terroir.
Production
Grapes are hand-harvested in multiple passes, selecting only the overripe or botrytized fruit to achieve maximum sugar concentration and complexity. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures not exceeding 22°C, and is halted with SO₂ and cooling to maintain optimal balance. The wine is then aged in vats and barrels for 10–12 months before bottling.
Tasting Notes

The palate is rich, smooth, and refined, balanced by a vibrant freshness that carries through to a lingering finish. Food match Perfect with foie gras, blue cheese, fruit-based desserts, or enjoyed on its own as a luxurious aperitif. Grape Sémillon 80%, Sauvignon Blanc 20%, Muscadelle (small proportion)
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
