Tabalí Micas Peumo Carmenère is a refined and powerful expression of one of Chile’s most celebrated indigenous grape varieties. Sourced from the historic Micas vineyard in Peumo, Cachapoal, where vines planted in 1950 flourish under ideal Mediterranean conditions, this Carmenère offers exceptional depth and balance. The vineyard’s northerly aspect ensures optimal sunlight, allowing the grapes to reach perfect physiological and phenolic ripeness at harvest, while naturally low yields concentrate flavours and intensify complexity. Hand-harvested and meticulously sorted, the grapes undergo cold maceration and controlled fermentation before 18 months of French oak ageing, producing a wine that is both elegant and expressive. With vibrant violet hues, a complex bouquet of blackcurrant, green pepper, and gentle spice, and a richly textured palate supported by smooth tannins and lively acidity, this Carmenère is a benchmark for Chilean reds, combining power with finesse and finishing long and memorable.

Meet the Producer

Established in 2002, Viña Tabalí is a pioneering winery on the edge of the Atacama Desert, renowned for precision, site-driven wines, and a dedication to capturing the unique terroirs of northern and central Chile.

Production

The grapes are hand-picked into 20kg boxes, carefully selected, destemmed, and cold-macerated for seven days before fermentation in small stainless steel tanks. Following fermentation, the wine remains on the skins for a further 15 days to enhance mouthfeel, before maturing for 18 months in French oak barrels to achieve richness, structure, and elegance.

Tasting Notes

Deep red with violet highlights, the nose displays blackcurrant, green pepper, and warming spice. The palate is full-bodied yet polished, with smooth tannins, vibrant acidity, and concentrated fruit, finishing long, elegant, and persistent. Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
